Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will hold the '19th Poeun Cultural Festival' over two days on the 7th and 8th at the 'Poeun Jeong Mong-ju Tomb' located in Mohyeon-eup, Cheoin-gu.
The 'Poeun Cultural Festival' is an annual commemorative event held every October by the Yongin Cultural Center to honor the loyalty and scholarly spirit of Jeong Mong-ju, a loyalist of the late Goryeo period and the founder of Joseon Neo-Confucianism.
On the first day, the 7th, a variety of performances will take place, including a traditional military band performance, concerts by the Yongin Silver Artists Association and the Yongin Cultural Center Choir, a Korean traditional orchestra, and a b-boying performance.
On the 8th, events such as the National Classical Chinese Poetry Contest, Yongin City Folk Arts Festival, calligraphy performances, reenactments of the Hyang-eum Jure ritual, and fusion Korean traditional music will be held.
During the festival, various children's experiential activities such as 'Poeun Academy,' 'Quiz Solving,' and 'Taking the Gwageo Exam' will also be available.
A Yongin City official said, "We look forward to active participation in the performances, traditional cultural experiences, and competitions held at the event honoring Jeong Mong-ju."
