Harvesting 3 Medals in This Competition
"Ppiyaki" Shin Yu-bin (World No. 8, Korean Air) won the bronze medal in the women's singles table tennis event on the 1st. Having previously won one bronze medal each in the women's team and mixed doubles events, Shin Yu-bin secured her third medal of this tournament.

On this day, at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games held at the Hangzhou Gongshu Canal Sports Park Gymnasium in China, Shin Yu-bin lost 0-4 (7-11, 8-11, 12-14, 10-12) to world No. 1 Sun Yingsha (China) in the women's singles semifinals.
With this result, Shin Yu-bin earned the bronze medal. In this tournament, table tennis awards bronze medals to both semifinal losers without a bronze medal playoff.
After losing the first and second games to Sun Yingsha, Shin Yu-bin shifted momentum by aggressively attacking early in the third game, taking a 7-3 lead. However, she allowed deuce at 10-10 after being caught at 10-8, then lost the third game after conceding consecutive points at 12-12.
In the fourth game, Shin trailed 1-6 but fought back to 7-9, scored at 9-10 to push the game to deuce. Nevertheless, consecutive points went to Sun Yingsha, who secured the victory.
This marks the first time since Jeong Hyun-sook at the 1974 Tehran Asian Games that South Korea has reached the women's singles final in table tennis at the Asian Games.
Shin Yu-bin will compete in the women's doubles semifinals on the 2nd alongside Jeon Ji-hee (Mirae Asset Securities) against the Japanese pair Harimoto Miwa and Kihara Miyu.
