Cho Kuk: "Investigate 'Kim Geonhee Stock Manipulation' Like the Investigations of Lee Jae-myung and Moon Jae-in"

"Yoon Seok-yeol's 'Investigation of Living Power' Theory Is Nonsense" Criticism

Former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk strongly urged a thorough investigation into the pressure on former Marine Corps Investigation Unit Chief Park Jeong-hoon and suspicions of stock manipulation involving First Lady Kim Geon-hee.

On the 1st, Cho posted on Facebook, "If Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok and the prosecutors under him are not merely subordinates of the 'Yoon Seok-yeol and Han Dong-hoon private organization,' they should properly carry out these investigations," listing urgent issues that require investigation.

First, he argued, "The prosecution should investigate First Lady Kim Geon-hee's stock manipulation and the suspicion of the Yangpyeong highway route change just as they investigated former President Moon Jae-in and Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea."

He added, "Just as the state manipulation scandal was investigated, the Yongsan Presidential Office and military officials who pressured Marine Corps Colonel Park Jeong-hoon should be investigated."

He also pointed out that "Investigating Ministerial nominee Kim Haeng and his spouse and relatives, just as the investigation into the nominee for Minister Cho Kuk’s spouse’s alleged stock alias, is an urgent matter."

Furthermore, he said, "Just as Minister Cho Kuk and his children were investigated, the authenticity and exaggeration (strict time verification) of internship certificates of several ministers (nominees), including Minister Han Dong-hoon, whose children have been reported multiple times in the media, should be investigated."

Finally, he criticized, "If these are not carried out, both the prosecution and the rule of law have been privatized. And Yoon Seok-yeol’s 'investigation of the living power' theory is complete nonsense."

Former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk was sentenced to two years in prison in the first trial for charges including his children’s admission fraud and covering up Blue House inspections, and the appeal trial is ongoing. Cho’s daughter, Cho Min, was indicted last August on charges of admission fraud.

His spouse, former Dongyang University professor Jeong Gyeong-sim, was sentenced to prison for charges including children’s admission fraud, served her sentence, and was granted parole on the 27th of last month.

Former Democratic Party lawmaker Choi Kang-wook, who was on trial for issuing a false internship certificate for Cho Kuk’s son, lost his parliamentary seat last month after his suspended prison sentence was finalized. This came three years and nine months after he was indicted in January 2020.
