Department Stores Targeting Molling Group Hold 'Autumn Welcome' Events

Department stores are holding various discount events for the ‘Molling-jok’ (people who enjoy shopping and leisure activities at shopping malls) who visit urban shopping malls to enjoy the holidays.

According to the department store industry, including Lotte Department Store, Hyundai Department Store, and Shinsegae Department Store, they will hold autumn-themed events until the 15th of next month. Lotte Department Store is hosting a ‘Fashion Week,’ offering discounts on fashion items, special gifts, and seasonal events to fully enjoy autumn.


During Fashion Week, about ‘540 brands’ will participate, offering up to 50% discounts on new autumn and winter products. In the men’s and women’s fashion categories, approximately 180 brands such as Galaxy, Daks, Duel, and Sisley will participate, selling representative autumn items like jackets, coats, and sweaters at 10-30% discounted prices. For customers who enjoy autumn sports, the sports category will offer popular products such as running shoes and sportswear from about 30 famous brands including Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour at 10-50% discounts. Additionally, in the accessories category essential for outings and gatherings, over 140 brands will participate, presenting sunglasses, handbags, scarves, and more at reasonable prices.


Seasonal special events are also held to meet autumn customer demand. Considering the increased demand for skincare in autumn, the beauty category will hold the ‘Autumn Beauty Holiday’ event. Until the 9th, 23 luxury beauty brands including Dior and Est?e Lauder will participate, offering a 10% gift benefit based on purchase amount. Also, five representative brands of ‘Est?e Lauder Companies Korea,’ such as Est?e Lauder, Bobbi Brown, and La Mer, will introduce ‘Pink Ribbon Limited Edition’ products in October.


Special benefits are also provided to customers visiting department stores. During the four-day holiday period until the 3rd, customers visiting department stores will receive F&B discount coupons usable at food and beverage stores. These can be downloaded via the Lotte Department Store app, and a 10,000 KRW discount is given to 100,000 customers who purchase over 20,000 KRW at F&B stores.


Hyundai Department Store will offer autumn season new products at up to 60% off the original price, with over 300 brands participating in fashion, living, accessories, and sports categories across 16 stores nationwide, including the Apgujeong Main Store.


Various sales events such as brand pop-ups are also held. First, popular online games ‘MapleStory’ and Nexon’s famous RPG game ‘Blue Archive’ pop-up stores will open at The Hyundai Seoul and Pangyo stores respectively, showcasing offline exclusive goods featuring game characters. At the Trade Center store, until the 5th of next month, the first offline pop-up store of the fashion platform ‘Lazy Night’ operated by Musinsa will open, presenting domestic and international clothing, lifestyle, accessories, and beauty brand products targeting women aged 30 to 40 and above. The Pangyo store will hold a living fair at the 10th-floor Topaz Hall until the 9th of next month, selling imported furniture such as Tempur, Monkeywood, and Holfrets, as well as trendy domestic furniture at up to 40% off the original price. The Kintex store will hold a discount event for popular young fashion brands such as Covernat and Waretizen from the 4th to the 8th of next month in the basement first-floor event hall.


Various gift events are also prepared. All Hyundai Department Store card members will receive an additional 5% discount coupon usable during the event period. From the 6th of next month, customers who purchase over 100,000 KRW on the same day at the gift desk of 16 stores including the Apgujeong Main Store will receive a ‘Heundi Picnic Mat’ suitable for the autumn season. Also, customers who purchase beauty products worth over 600,000 KRW during the event period will receive up to 10% H Points (60,000, 100,000, 200,000 points for purchases over 600,000, 1,000,000, and 2,000,000 KRW respectively).


Shinsegae Department Store will also hold a large-scale discount event called ‘Shinbaek Members Festa’ at all 13 stores nationwide. This event includes abundant discounts and membership benefits to help customers make better use of holiday bonuses or gift certificates received during the holidays.


First, shopping support coupons usable when paying with Shinsegae affiliated cards (Citi, Samsung, Shinhan, Hana, BC Baro) will be provided. Until the 3rd, customers can receive a coupon offering a 5,000 KRW discount on purchases over 5,000 KRW, and from October 6th to 9th, a coupon offering a 20,000 KRW discount on purchases over 100,000 KRW. These coupons can be downloaded once daily during the event period via the Shinsegae mobile app and are valid only on the day of download. For customers preparing autumn and winter clothes, ‘Shinbaek Rewards’ that can be used like cash at Shinsegae Department Store offline stores will be generously provided. Until October 3rd, customers who purchase a total of 300,000, 600,000, or 1,000,000 KRW at fashion brands will receive 20,000, 40,000, or 70,000 rewards respectively.


During the Shinbaek Festa period, meals and desserts can also be enjoyed at discounted prices. Until the 9th, coupons worth 3,000 to 10,000 KRW usable at food halls and specialty restaurants can be obtained via the app. ‘Hot Deal Coupons’ offering 18-33% discounts on popular menu items at five restaurants and cafes (varies by store) are also provided.


An industry insider explained, “This sale is planned to offer customers richer benefits than ever, as more than half of the period from the Chuseok holiday through the early October golden holidays, National Foundation Day, and Hangul Day are holidays.”
