When Opening the Master Bedroom Door of a New Apartment, a Serious 'Foul Odor'... Packaged Human Waste Found on the Ceiling

Construction Company "We Are Also Victims"
Only Promised Bathroom Ceiling Replacement, Wallpapering, and Antibacterial Treatment

A bag containing human feces was found in an apartment in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, with less than two months remaining until move-in. The construction company that built the apartment claimed, "Someone did this intentionally," and instead of actively compensating, they expressed their own grievances, which has caused even greater public outrage.

According to Yonhap News on the 30th, a prospective resident who went for a pre-inspection on the 15th at a newly built apartment in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi Province, scheduled for move-in in November, smelled an unknown foul odor in the master bedroom.

The prospective resident stated, "The moment I opened the master bedroom door, a smell like that of a traditional Korean toilet poured out."

Following the smell to the bathroom ceiling, there was a black plastic bag containing feces wrapped in paper. The prospective resident lamented, "There was a black plastic bag, so I opened it and found human feces along with the toilet paper used by that person."

The accompanying construction company employee left the scene without any particular apology, as if it was no big deal, even after confirming the feces. Ultimately, the prospective resident had to clean up the bag containing the feces themselves.

Only after Mr. A repeatedly protested more than ten times, expressing mental distress and requesting unit replacement, did the construction company promise to replace the bathroom ceiling, repaint, and apply antibacterial treatment.

The construction company firmly stated that since it was the pre-inspection stage before move-in, they could neither replace the unit nor provide monetary compensation.

They added, "It seems someone tried to slander our site. We are outraged," expressing their own grievances instead.

The prospective resident said, "I couldn't even meet the construction company manager for three days after the feces were found," and lamented, "Their behavior acting as if it was nothing is so absurd."

He continued, "This is a newlywed home prepared after years of hard work. My wife's disappointment, who was dreaming of a new home, is immense," and added, "I am even more angry because the construction company seems to suspect it was a staged act."

Recently, incidents of feces appearing in new apartments have become frequent. This is due to labor conditions.

Construction workers working on high floors take an average of more than 30 minutes to use the restroom, so they inevitably relieve themselves within the construction area, causing this problem.

According to a survey conducted last year by the National Construction Workers' Union, an average of 172 workers are deployed at one site, but the number of restrooms averages only 2.5.

It is known that the apartment complex, including the prospective resident's unit, could not use the toilet because water was not available even until the pre-inspection day.
