‘Traditional Play Festival’ Held at Amsa-dong Archaeological Site in Seoul

Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced that from September 29 to 30, on Chuseok day, the “2023 Chuseok Traditional Games Festival” will be held at the Amsa-dong Historic Site (875 Olympic-ro, Gangdong-gu, Seoul).

The “Chuseok Traditional Games Festival,” held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on September 29 and 30, is expected to provide a meaningful time for families wondering what to do with their children during the Chuseok holiday to come and enjoy various performances and programs while experiencing traditional culture.

In the plaza in front of the museum, visitors can freely experience six traditional games including Yutnori, Gonggi Nori, Tuho Nori, Jegichagi, Biseokchigi, and Gulleongsoe Nori. Prehistoric experience programs such as decorating pottery necklaces, making bows, building pit houses, making pottery, and restoring pottery are available for a small fee (3,000 to 5,000 KRW).

In addition to traditional games, on the afternoon of September 29, there will be two Magic Bubble Show performances at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The Amsa-dong Historic Site, where the event is held, is a representative Neolithic site in Korea, preserving the lifestyle and artistic culture of prehistoric people well. It was designated as Historic Site No. 267 in 1979, recognizing its historical significance.

For residents interested in history, a professional guided tour program about the Amsa-dong Historic Site and Neolithic culture will also be operated during the Chuseok holiday. The tours are held four times a day at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m., and can be reserved through the Seoul Amsa-dong Historic Site website.

Admission to the Amsa-dong Historic Site is free during the event period. For more details, please check the Seoul Amsa-dong Historic Site website or contact the Gangdong-gu Office Culture and Arts Division by phone.
