Lee Soon-hee, the mayor of Gangbuk-gu, toured traditional markets in the area ahead of the Chuseok holiday to monitor living conditions and promote the local economy.
Starting on the 25th with Bukbu Market and Suyu Market located in Beondong, the mayor will visit a total of 16 traditional markets, including Baeknyeon Market, until the 27th. On the 26th, she visited Baeknyeon Market and shared encouraging words with merchants, stating, "The district will spare no support to revitalize traditional markets."
Additionally, she listened to the opinions of merchants and residents regarding the ongoing arcade installation project at Baeknyeon Market, and discussed plans for local brand commercial district strengthening, modernization of traditional market facilities, and management modernization as part of regional revitalization efforts.
Lee Soon-hee, mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "Gangbuk-gu has many historic traditional markets, each with its own story," adding, "We are enhancing the competitiveness of traditional markets through various support projects such as local festivals and facility modernization. I hope many people visit traditional markets during this Chuseok holiday to purchase holiday gifts and ritual items."
Meanwhile, to promote the use of traditional markets during the Chuseok holiday period, the district will temporarily allow parking until Tuesday, October 3rd, at seven locations: Ui (Alley) Market, Dongbuk Market, Solsaem Market, Bukbu Market, Jangmiwon Alley Market, Baeknyeon Market, and Suyu Jungang (Alley) Market.
