Korea Social Investment developed ESG Plus in collaboration with the ESG Research Center at Seoul School of Integrated Sciences and Technologies to provide specialized ESG evaluations tailored to the characteristics of startups. ESG Plus is based on a broad analysis that includes not only representative ESG evaluation and disclosure indicators such as MSCI ESG rating and SASB, but also SME ESG indicators and startup ESG indicators.
In particular, ESG Plus is characterized by strengthening the ‘ESG opportunity factors’ so that startups can utilize it for investment, fundraising, and responding to large corporations’ supply chain management, as well as discovering business opportunities. Additionally, it was designed to allow precise analysis according to the size and industry of startups to assess their ESG management level. Korea Social Investment plans to use ESG Plus to enhance open innovation and collaboration connections between outstanding ESG startups and large corporations.
The seminar will introduce the features and competitiveness of ESG Plus. Experts will also share their opinions on startup ESG management and evaluation. The first part of the seminar consists of a keynote speech by Cho Sang-mi, Director of the Central Social Service Agency, and a presentation introducing ESG Plus by Lee Jong-ik, CEO of Korea Social Investment. The second part will feature a panel discussion on the theme ‘Startup ESG Management Evaluation Supporting Business Survival and Growth.’ Panelists include Professor Yoo Byung-joon from the Department of Business Administration at Seoul National University, Ahn Young-il, Head of the Tipstown Center at the Korea Angel Investment Association, Yoon Cheol-min, Head of ESG Management at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Park Jung-min, CEO of JM Wave, and Kim Ji-hoon, CEO of Dolbom Dream.
The seminar will be held simultaneously online and offline. Only those who register in advance can participate offline at Front1 Park Byung-won Hall, and online via the Korea Social Investment YouTube channel. Anyone involved in startup and venture investment institutions, startup incubation and entrepreneurship support organizations, or large corporation open innovation can attend.
Lee Jong-ik, CEO of Korea Social Investment, said, “Today, startups are required to practice ESG management in aspects such as investment, fundraising, and large corporation supply chain management, but ESG indicators centered on large corporations are often not suitable for startups. We hope that ESG Plus, developed by Korea Social Investment this year, will serve as a guide to support the survival and growth of startups.”
