The awardees of the '2023 Special Judicial Police Excellent Investigation Case Presentation Contest,' held over two days from the 25th to the 26th at Gwangju Gonjiam Resort, Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, are taking a commemorative photo.
The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters held the '2023 Special Judicial Police Excellent Investigation Case Presentation Contest' over two days from the 25th to the 26th at Gwangju Gonjiam Resort, where Firefighter Wang Yiho of Ansan Fire Station and Fire Lieutenant Jeong Hyeoncheol of the Northern Headquarters each won the grand prize.
Organized by the Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters, this contest was established to enhance the investigative expertise of special judicial police officers in fire departments across the province by sharing excellent investigation cases and techniques from cases investigated for violations of fire-related laws and referred to the prosecution.
Firefighter Wang Yiho of Ansan Fire Station, who won the grand prize, presented an investigation case where a company was caught conducting business through advertising without registration as a fire facility business operator, entering into a contract for fire facility construction, and carrying out fire facility installation, receiving the highest evaluation.
Fire Lieutenant Jeong Hyeoncheol of the Northern Headquarters received the highest score within the Northern Headquarters for his investigation case that identified a person who used multiple unregistered mobile phones to make indiscriminate calls to 119, thereby obstructing emergency reporting duties.
Sergeant Kim Daehyeong of Bucheon Fire Station and Firefighter Yoon Euncheol of Icheon Fire Station took 2nd and 3rd place respectively at the Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters, while Firefighter Cha Hyemin of Ilsan Fire Station and Fire Lieutenant Choi Byeonggeun of Yangju Fire Station took 2nd and 3rd place respectively at the Northern Headquarters.
Jo Seonho, head of the Provincial Fire and Disaster Headquarters, urged, "Since fire services prioritize the safety of the public above all else, please strictly enforce the law with a zero-tolerance policy against fire-related offenders who threaten safety."
Gyeonggi Fire Special Judicial Police referred 229 cases to the prosecution in the first half of this year and imposed fines on 1,537 other violations of fire-related laws and regulations.
