2024 Budget Preparation Resident Participation Budget Committee Meeting Held
Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do held a Resident Participatory Budget Committee meeting on the 25th for the 2024 budget formulation.
The Resident Participatory Budget System guarantees opportunities for residents to participate in the budget formulation process and allows residents to directly submit opinions to be reflected in the budget proposal. It is being promoted to enhance the transparency of local financial management and the fairness of resource allocation.
According to the county on the 26th, at this Resident Participatory Budget Committee meeting, after holding sector-specific budget formulation meetings in advance with 11 departments including the Welfare Policy Division, citizen committee members selected from towns and townships reviewed the 164 submitted opinions regarding the feasibility and efficiency of the projects.

The opinions reviewed at the committee will be discussed with the relevant departments to determine whether to reflect them in the budget proposal.
Haenam-gun is collecting opinions through sector-specific meetings on a wide range of resident participation proposals, including regional economic revitalization plans, improvement of citizen welfare, income increase measures, policy proposals in fields such as culture, welfare, education, tourism, agriculture and fisheries, regional community projects, and resolving daily life inconveniences.
In particular, to broaden resident participation, the county visits local high schools targeting youth who will lead the future to promote the Resident Participatory Budget System and listen to and review proposals from the youth.
A county official said, “Through the process of residents directly participating in budget formulation, the budget process can be conducted more transparently and fairly,” adding, “We will actively review and reflect fresh and diverse proposals for the change and innovation of county administration in the future.”
