Democratic Peace Unification Advisory Council Changwon City Chapter Holds 21st Inauguration Ceremony

Activities Begin to Establish a Community-Based Foundation for Unification

The Changwon City Council of the National Unification Advisory Council held the 21st term advisory committee member appointment ceremony and the 3rd quarter regular meeting on the 26th at the Citizen Hall of Changwon Special City Hall, attended by Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, and about 250 advisory committee members.


The inauguration ceremony proceeded with Mayor Hong, the acting head of the agency and chairman Yoon Seok-yeol, presenting appointment letters to the advisory committee members, followed by the 3rd quarter regular meeting to share plans and directions for future activities.

In his inaugural speech, Jung Young-sik, Chairman of the Changwon City Council, stated, “The role of the National Unification Advisory Council is to broadly gather public opinions on peaceful unification and to draw out national consensus,” and urged, “Based on national consensus, please unite your efforts to practice national integration and help leap forward as a global pivotal nation.”


In his congratulatory remarks, Mayor Hong congratulated the appointment of the 21st term advisory committee members, saying, “The National Unification Advisory Council has the responsibility to achieve peaceful unification by encompassing ideology, regions, generations, and social classes,” and added, “Starting from today’s appointment ceremony, I hope the advisory committee members will actively engage in activities for peace on the Korean Peninsula and improvement of inter-Korean relations.”


Meanwhile, the Changwon City Council of the National Unification Advisory Council shares the government’s national vision and goals, and serves as a bridge for policy proposals based on the public’s vivid field unification opinions and public-private cooperation. It will faithfully perform this role in the region for the next two years.
