Sancheong-gun Ensures Safety for Chuseok Holiday Returnees and Expo Visitors

Comprehensive Measures in 4 Areas Covering 12 Items

Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam Province, is fully committed to ensuring the safety of holiday travelers returning home for Chuseok and visitors attending the Expo.

On the 26th, Sancheong-gun announced that it has prepared a ‘Comprehensive Plan for the Chuseok Holiday’ to help residents have a safe and comfortable holiday during the nation’s biggest traditional festival, Chuseok.

Accordingly, from the 28th of this month to October 3rd, Sancheong-gun will organize 12 task forces and township civil complaint response teams in four areas: ▲A generous holiday easing the burden of shopping baskets ▲A warm holiday filled with warmth ▲A 24-hour perfectly safe holiday ▲A pleasant holiday without any gaps in public services. A total of 162 personnel will be on emergency duty.

Sancheong-gun Ensures Safety for Chuseok Holiday Returnees and Expo Visitors County Governor Lee Seunghwa is inspecting the Mureunggyo Bridge in Donguibogam Village.

Additionally, with the long holiday including the temporary holiday and National Foundation Day, an increase in visitors to the 2023 Sancheong World Traditional Medicine Anti-Aging Expo (hereafter Expo) held in the Donguibogam Village area is expected, so thorough preparations are being made for increased traffic and incidents.

In particular, to ensure the safety of Donguibogam Village facilities, pre-inspections are being conducted on major facilities such as the Expo Theme Hall, Korean Medicine Museum, Dongui Jeon, Mureunggyo Bridge, outdoor elevators, and communication and broadcasting facilities, focusing all efforts on preventing safety accidents among visitors.

Earlier, on the 24th, County Governor Lee Seunghwa conducted an on-site inspection of Mureunggyo Bridge (suspension bridge) in Donguibogam Village and emphasized ‘safety.’

Along with this, the ‘Sancheong-Jinju Mutual Growth Gift Certificate,’ jointly issued for the first time by basic local governments, can be used within the Expo venue. Preparing for the influx of many visitors from both cities, special attention will be paid to visitor guidance, facility cleaning, and environmental maintenance to enhance visitor convenience.

Twenty key seasonal products for the holiday have been designated as priority management targets to suppress price increases, and compliance with origin labeling for 651 agricultural and processed products will also be inspected and monitored.

Moreover, traditional markets such as Sancheong, Deoksan, and Danseong markets and surrounding stores will contribute to stabilizing the livelihood of ordinary citizens through Onnuri gift certificate refunds and traditional market shopping events.

To minimize medical service gaps, Sancheong Medical Center will operate 24 hours, and the operational status of nine medical institutions and seven pharmacies in the region will be posted on the county office website and emergency medical portal.

Furthermore, the plan includes continuing acts of sharing so that low-income groups are not neglected and can have a warm holiday by delivering consolation goods to 742 residents of social welfare facilities and 95 needy households.

In addition, to prevent waste accumulation and collection confusion during the holiday period, collection days will be publicized in advance to minimize inconvenience to residents.

Food waste collection will be suspended on Chuseok day (September 29), Sunday (October 1), and Tuesday (October 3), while household waste will be collected mainly in residential areas except on Chuseok day.

Governor Lee said, “We will do our best to ensure that holiday travelers returning home, visitors to the Expo, and residents can have a safe holiday.”
