Police Investigate Based on IP Addresses

As the arrest motion against Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, was passed in the National Assembly on the 21st, a post threatening murder targeting anti-Lee faction (Bi-Myung faction) lawmakers was uploaded, prompting the police to launch an investigation.


According to the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency on the 22nd, around 8 p.m. the previous day, a post mentioning the real names of 14 Democratic Party lawmakers appeared on an online community, implying terrorism with statements such as "I need to prepare a rifle."

The Democratic Party lawmakers named in the post are classified as members of the party's anti-Lee faction.


The police suspect that the netizen, presumed to be a supporter of Lee, made such threats targeting lawmakers who apparently voted in favor of the arrest motion against Lee during the voting process.


The Uiwang Police Station, which received the report, is conducting an investigation based on IP addresses and other information.


The police plan to apply charges of intimidation and investigate once the author is apprehended.
