‘Macallan Double Cask Experience 2023’ Pop-up Store Opens

From Saturday, October 14th to Saturday, October 28th, a pop-up store titled ‘Macallan Double Cask Experience 2023’ will be held.

This special opportunity to experience the incomparable elegance and the craftsmanship unique to ‘Macallan,’ a premium single malt whiskey created by the harmony of two sherry casks, is coming to Seoul, attracting great anticipation from many domestic whiskey enthusiasts and consumers who want to appreciate the value of Macallan.

In the world of whiskey, casks are so important and essential that it is said they account for 80% of the whiskey’s taste and aroma. The distilled whiskey interacts and breathes with the oak barrels over a long period, adding beautiful flavors and maturity.

The reason Macallan is recognized by whiskey experts and enthusiasts worldwide as the standard for evaluating other single malt whiskeys lies in these casks, that is, the oak barrels.

Wood selected from trees directly managed and felled in Europe and the United States is crafted into oak barrels by artisans, then seasoned with sherry wine in Jerez, Spain, before being sent to Scotland for whiskey maturation. It is rare for whiskey brands to manage the wood so delicately from the very beginning. Most brands purchase used oak barrels for their whiskey.

The special Double Cask series of Macallan introduced at this event features a delicate and exquisite harmony between European sherry casks and American sherry casks, offering an attractive whiskey with rich raisin flavors balanced by vanilla and citrus notes.

The event operates from 2:30 PM to 10 PM on weekdays and from 12:30 PM to 10:30 PM on weekends. Visitors can participate in the programs on-site without a reservation. Additionally, by searching for ‘Macallan Double Cask Experience in Seoul’ and making a reservation before visiting, a special whiskey tasting class is provided as part of the program.
