Daegu City will appoint Lee Gyogwan (58), a senior administrative officer from the Blue House and a chief reporter at Global Economic, as the Seoul Headquarters External Cooperation Special Advisor effective October 1.
Special Advisor Lee Gyogwan, a former reporter for The Korea Herald, Sisa Journal, and Chosun Ilbo, has extensive experience in public service, having served as a senior administrative officer in the Blue House Office of Foreign Affairs and Security, and as a policy advisor to the Minister of Unification. He is expected to faithfully carry out cooperative relations through smooth communication not only with the National Assembly and political parties but also with the government.
The former Seoul Headquarters External Cooperation Special Advisor, Ahn Byung-yong, will resign on the 30th of this month.
Lee Si-bok, the Political Coordination Office Director (special appointment), who was appointed last July and has served as a communication channel between the executive branch and the city council, will also resign at the end of this month.
Daegu City stated that the successor to the Political Coordination Office Director will be a special appointment serving concurrently with the mayor’s term, and they plan to appoint the most suitable person to realize the governance philosophy of the 8th elected term.
