Since transforming from a construction company to an environmental and energy solutions company in 2021, SK Ecoplant has continuously strived to create both economic and social value through its key projects. The company aims not only to pursue economic profit but also to contemplate coexistence with nature and maximize the happiness of social members. This is also why Park Kyung-il, President of SK Ecoplant, personally participated in the mudflat experience event held this year on Children’s Day.

Last year, SK Ecoplant held its first year-end concert for children at ‘Seondeokwon,’ a child care facility located in Jongno-gu, Seoul. This event marked the beginning of a relationship with Seondeokwon, leading to ongoing diverse social contribution activities for the children. Every month, volunteers are recruited from among the company’s members to serve as learning helpers, and the selected volunteers visit Seondeokwon every Monday to provide customized lessons for preschoolers and lower-grade students. The last week of each month is a day the children eagerly anticipate, as a birthday party is held for those who have birthdays that month.

In March, SK Ecoplant conducted a home repair social contribution activity called ‘Happy Space Environmental Improvement’ through talent donation by its members. The Seondeokwon building, due to aging, had issues such as leaks and mold on the walls, and children often tripped on the warped floor deck. Over a total of five days of repairs, SK Ecoplant focused on leak repairs inside and outside the building and wallpapering to prevent leaks during the rainy season. Additional convenience facility repairs were also carried out to make the children’s living environment more comfortable, including expanding insufficient storage space, re-laying the floor deck, and constructing a roof over the outdoor playground.

On Children’s Day this year, SK Ecoplant also held a ‘mudflat experience’ for the first time. To celebrate Children’s Day in May, SK Ecoplant organized a 2-day, 1-night mudflat experience program for the children. President Park Kyung-il participated as well. The children from Seondeokwon visited Boryeong, Chungnam, where on the first day they enjoyed playing in the water at Daecheon Beach, toured a ranch, and experienced making ice cream, creating lasting memories. During the evening’s samgyeopsal (pork belly) party, President Park personally grilled meat for the children and presented them with gift sets.
