Mrs. Kim toured the textile and fabric design exhibits on the second floor of the museum and the outdoor garden along with spouses of various world leaders. In particular, she inquired about the health of First Lady Jill Biden, who recently recovered from a COVID-19 diagnosis, and expressed gratitude for the invitation to the historic Carnegie Mansion housing the Smithsonian Design Museum.

She also reunited with Mrs. Britta Ernst, wife of the German Chancellor, whom she had met in Korea last May, suggesting they meet again soon to talk. Mrs. Kim greeted and conversed with other spouses, including Mrs. Agata Kornhauser-Duda, wife of the Polish President, sharing her impressions of visiting New York during the United Nations General Assembly.

During the UN General Assembly period, Mrs. Kim is actively supporting the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo. The previous day, she visited the 'Hangawi in New York' event held at Samsung 837 in Manhattan, stating, "We want to share our experience of rising from ruins to develop the best digital advanced industries with the international community and give back the help we have received," thereby lending her support to the Expo bid.

She also introduced Busan directly. Mrs. Kim said, "Busan was the temporary capital during the Korean War. It is a place that moves me because it was a city where mothers had to take care of their families during the war," adding, "It is also a city where many artists gather to create a unique culture." She emphasized, "As a First Lady who has made it her mission to protect Korean art, I have come to support Busan."
