Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will implement the ‘2023 Chuseok Comprehensive Measures’ focusing on safety, support for marginalized neighbors, traffic, daily life, and prices to ensure that residents can have a safe and peaceful holiday during the Chuseok holiday period.

As this year’s Chuseok holiday period has been extended to six days due to the inclusion of a temporary holiday, the district will operate a comprehensive situation room 24 hours a day and establish a thorough response system for emergencies in each sector. In addition, efforts will be made to support marginalized neighbors and stabilize prices to ensure daily life safety.

The main contents of the district’s ‘Five Major Chuseok Comprehensive Measures’ are as follows.

First, pre-inspections will be conducted on disaster-vulnerable areas, safety facilities, and large construction sites to strengthen the safety of residents. The district will monitor weather conditions in real-time to prepare for autumn typhoons and maintain an emergency duty system. Disaster-vulnerable areas such as rivers and flood-prone zones, as well as rainwater inlets and rainwater pumping stations, will be inspected in advance to ensure rapid response in emergencies. Special inspections will also be conducted on gas supply facilities, large construction sites, road facilities including overpasses, and multi-use facilities.

Second, support for marginalized neighbors will continue during the holiday. Necessary items such as side dishes will be delivered to neighbors in need, and time will be spent accompanying Dream Start families to watch movies. Additionally, life support workers will check on the elderly either through visits or phone calls. Other initiatives include meal support for elderly at risk of missing meals, songpyeon sharing events, holiday consolation money payments for single-parent families and basic livelihood security recipients, and joint ancestral rites for homeless people and residents of small rooms.

Third, traffic measures and a parking control situation room will be operated to minimize traffic inconvenience and promote parking order. As inquiries about illegal parking surge during the holiday period, special day and night crackdowns on illegal parking will be conducted focusing on traffic-vulnerable areas such as major stations and large shopping centers. Illegal acts such as taxi refusal of passengers late at night, long-term parking, and solicitation will also be cracked down on to establish traffic order.

Fourth, emergency garbage collection, maintenance of emergency medical systems, and free opening of public parking lots will reduce inconvenience for residents. An emergency medical situation room, on-duty medical institutions, and holiday pharmacies will be operated within the health center to prepare for emergency patients. A cleaning situation room will be operated to promptly handle cleaning complaints, and the schedule for household waste disposal will be announced in advance on the website to prevent unauthorized disposal. The cleanliness of the city will be enhanced by deploying cleanliness task forces, water spraying trucks, and dust control vehicles. In addition, 29 public on-street parking lots, 3 public off-street parking lots, and 2 resident-priority parking lots will be opened free of charge to alleviate parking difficulties.

Finally, efforts will be made to curb price increases by checking the prices of holiday seasonal products such as agricultural and livestock products. Public officials and price monitoring agents will jointly monitor price trends of holiday seasonal products at traditional markets and large marts. Unfair trade practices will also be inspected by randomly selecting large distributors, traditional markets, and small to medium-sized marts. To establish a sound distribution order, compliance with sales and unit price labeling as well as recommended retail price labeling will also be checked.

Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “In celebration of the great national holiday of Chuseok, we have prepared thoroughly so that residents can enjoy a comfortable and pleasant holiday without inconvenience,” and added, “Even during the Chuseok holiday, we will focus administrative efforts on ensuring residents’ safety, supporting marginalized neighbors, and minimizing daily life inconveniences without any administrative gaps.”
