The College of Marine Sciences at Gyeongsang National University announced on the 21st that it held the ‘2023 Academic Year Department Customized JOB談 (Job Talk) Marine and Fisheries Employment Mentoring’ sponsored by Tongyeong City and the University Job Plus Project.
In the morning session, to prepare for the 2024 recruitment period, 10 public institutions including the Tongyeong Coast Guard and companies in the marine and fisheries sector participated to strengthen employment and career capabilities for youth in the Tongyeong area and students of the College of Marine Sciences.
More than 200 participating students engaged in in-depth employment mentoring through roundtable face-to-face consultations with current professionals from various companies. Students participating in the employment mentoring received diverse information necessary for job preparation by asking questions on-site about the participating organizations, recruitment guidance, employment document consulting, wage systems, and more from the experts.
In the afternoon, alumni of the College of Marine Sciences working at public institutions and companies in the marine and fisheries sector conducted a ‘Successful Employment Senior Special Lecture’ to pass on employment secrets to their juniors. Students were able to check job and career information and quickly obtain the latest recruitment trends and job information through employment consultations and Q&A sessions with seniors working at their desired institutions and companies, which received great responses from the students.
A student who participated in the employment mentoring said, “It was a great opportunity to obtain various information about public institutions, enabling customized job matching.”
Dean Ahn Young-soo said, “The employment mentoring for public institutions in the marine and fisheries sector is a good opportunity for each institution to secure excellent talent and serves as a stepping stone for youth in the Tongyeong area and students of the College of Marine Sciences to enter regional public institutions in the marine and fisheries sector. It is a time that provides confidence and motivation for job seeking.”
