Yangcheon-gu Activates Comprehensive Measures for Chuseok... 220 Personnel in 5 Teams on Emergency Duty

Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that it will implement the "2023 Chuseok Comprehensive Plan" to ensure that residents can have a safe and comfortable Chuseok holiday.

With a long holiday expected due to the designation of October 2 as a temporary holiday, the district has established detailed measures in five areas: ▲Safety ▲Sharing ▲Transportation ▲Living & Prices ▲Establishment of Public Service Discipline. From September 27 to October 4, an 8-day, 24-hour comprehensive situation room will be operated to prepare for emergencies during the holiday. To this end, task forces related to transportation, cleaning, flood control, parks and green spaces, and medical services will be formed, deploying 220 employees to maintain an emergency work system.

Maintaining Emergency Response and Emergency Medical Support Systems for a Safe Chuseok Holiday

The district operates a Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters composed of 13 task forces to enable immediate response in case of disaster situations. In addition, to prepare for sudden heavy rain and other wind and water disasters, 24-hour weather monitoring is conducted, and emergency personnel and mobile teams are organized to ensure a thorough emergency work system. In particular, safety accidents will be prevented through preemptive intensive inspections of various facilities such as construction sites, vacant houses and apartment complexes in development areas, roads and sidewalks, and overpasses within the district.

Surveillance activities will be strengthened for multi-use facilities vulnerable to fire such as PC rooms and karaoke rooms, gas supply facilities, parks, and forest green spaces. Any deficiencies will be corrected and repaired so that residents can use the facilities with peace of mind even during the holiday period.

Also, to prepare for emergency medical situations during the holiday, an emergency medical task force led by the public health center will be established and operated. In case of emergencies, a joint response system will be built in cooperation with the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Central Emergency Medical Countermeasures Situation Room for real-time situation management. Hospitals and pharmacies open during the holiday will be designated and operated, and a 24-hour emergency medical response system will be established in cooperation with Ewha Mokdong Hospital, a regional emergency medical center, and local emergency medical institutions such as Hongik Hospital and Seonam Hospital. Detailed information about medical services can be found on the district office website, the Emergency Medical Support Center, or smartphone applications (providing emergency medical information).

Cleaning and Transportation Measures for a Pleasant and Comfortable Holiday

Thorough cleaning measures have been prepared for a pleasant holiday. Household waste disposed of before the holiday will be collected in full on September 27 and taken to resource recovery facilities for processing. From September 28 to 30, when intake is suspended, residents will be encouraged to refrain from disposing of waste, and the waste disposal days for each neighborhood will be announced. During the holiday, a cleaning situation team and patrol mobile team consisting of 16 groups and about 30 people will be organized to promptly collect street cleaning and accumulated waste, minimizing inconvenience to residents.

To ensure smooth traffic guidance during the holiday, a traffic countermeasure situation room will be operated, maintaining close communication with the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s traffic countermeasure situation room. In addition, to prevent public transportation accidents, pre-inspections have been completed on about 30 village buses in the district. From September 27 to October 4, special guidance and crackdowns on illegal parking and stopping will be conducted mainly in traffic vulnerable areas such as department stores, subway stations, and village bus routes. However, since the long 6-day holiday is expected to disperse return traffic demand, it should be noted that public transportation last train times will not be extended this Chuseok.

A Warm Chuseok Sharing Generosity with Neighbors

Rich sharing activities will be carried out so that neighbors in need and vulnerable groups can have a generous holiday. First, to promote a community spirit where neighbors care for neighbors, a "Donation Sharing Campaign" will be conducted until October 13, and collected items will be delivered to marginalized groups through the Yangcheon-gu Food Bank and Market Center. Additionally, on September 25, a relay donation sharing campaign will be held together with residents of apartment complexes in Mok 1-dong.

To ensure that children do not go hungry during the holiday, 70 children at risk of food insecurity will be pre-delivered a "Together We Lunchbox (Holiday Kit Box)" consisting of three days’ worth of simple lunchboxes and holiday snacks. About 12,000 low-income households, including basic livelihood recipients and low-income disabled residents, will receive holiday consolation money (or goods). Furthermore, daily necessities such as rice and fruit will be delivered to 155 senior welfare facilities and 33 facilities for the disabled, and gift certificates will be provided to nine veterans’ organizations for families who have devoted themselves to the country.

Lee Gi-jae, Mayor of Yangcheon-gu, said, “We will focus the district office’s administrative power to implement the Chuseok comprehensive plan without fail so that all residents and visitors to Yangcheon-gu can spend the long holiday safely and comfortably.”

If you need assistance or have questions during the Chuseok holiday, please refer to the district office website or contact the district office comprehensive situation room.
