Gumi-si Yangpo-dong Haemaru Park Hosts the '1st Healing Forest Trail Barefoot Walking Festival'
Yangpo-dong, Gumi-si, Gyeongbuk, held the '1st Healing Forest Barefoot Walking Festival' on the 17th at Haemaru Park, hosted by the Yangpo-dong Development Council, with about 500 citizens in attendance.
The city created a forest trail totaling 1 km by connecting the Hinoki cypress healing forest trail within Haemaru Park (Course 1: 250m), the health healing forest trail (Course 2: 400m), and the existing sandy barefoot path (Course 3: 350m). The event received enthusiastic responses, with all 500 participants recruited on a first-come, first-served basis filling up quickly.
Additionally, Mayor Kim Jang-ho participated in the city and county officials' 'Walking Exercise Practice Support' challenge, promoting the importance of walking and encouraging its practice.
Hwang Tae-jin, chairman of the Yangpo-dong Development Council, expressed gratitude to Mayor Kim Jang-ho, city and provincial council members, and the Gumi Barefoot School officials for actively listening to the local residents' demands and leading the creation of the healing forest trail. He added that he hopes more people will spend happy times through the healing forest trail.
Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, "I thank the participants who cooperated to safely complete the festival without any accidents," and added, "Starting from today, I hope many citizens will walk the forest trail and gain vitality from their tired daily lives."
