Actor Jung Woo-sung delivers a powerful presence in the film Spiderweb (directed by Kim Ji-woon).

In Spiderweb, which opens on the 27th, Jung Woo-sung plays Shin, the mentor of film director Kim Yeol (Song Kang-ho), revealing a new side of himself. He makes a special appearance due to his connection with director Kim Ji-woon and Song Kang-ho, with whom he previously collaborated on the film The Good, the Bad, the Weird (2008), which attracted 6.6 million viewers. The trio reunites after 15 years in Spiderweb.

Spiderweb humorously depicts the story of director Kim Yeol (Song Kang-ho) in the 1970s, who believes that simply changing the ending of the completed film Spiderweb will turn it into a masterpiece. Amid censorship and confusion among actors and producers who do not understand the altered content, Kim Yeol pushes forward with filming in a setting on the brink of madness.

Shin, the mentor of Kim Yeol, is a genius director of his time who wrote a new chapter in Korean cinema and made Shinseong Film the best film company in South Korea. Kim Yeol was Shin’s assistant director but debuted as a director after Shin’s accidental death. However, even his well-received debut film is suspected to be Shin’s posthumous work, and his subsequent films are criticized as cheap melodramas, causing him to become increasingly obsessed with creating a masterpiece.

At a recent press screening and Q&A session, Song Kang-ho said, "Jung Woo-sung gave his best performance in Spiderweb. It is rare to find an actor who approaches his roles with such passion every time. He was in the middle of shooting another project at the time but made time to perform passionately. I am grateful and moved."
