Self-Proclaimed UFO Expert Claims "Alien Corpse Discovered"
Scientists and Media Say "Are They Still Spreading Such Nonsense?"
Recently, the Mexican Congress held its first-ever hearing on unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Amid this, controversy continues to rage over an object that a self-proclaimed UFO expert revealed at the hearing, claiming it to be an 'alien corpse.'
On the 16th (local time), according to foreign media including the New York Times (NYT), Mexican journalist Jose Jaime Maussan (70) once again unveiled two mummies he claimed to be 'alien corpses' at an office in Mexico City. He reiterated that the discovery of these bodies was 'the most important event to have happened to humanity.'
Maussan had appeared as a witness at the UFO hearing held on the 14th at the Mexican Congress in Mexico City, where he revealed these corpses.
The bodies he brought had elongated heads, thin physiques, and three fingers on each hand. Maussan claimed, "The two bodies were discovered in 2017 around the Nasca area in Peru and are non-human entities unrelated to any life form on Earth."
He added, "The National Autonomous University of Mexico confirmed through radiocarbon dating that the fossils were created about 1,000 years ago." Maussan also claimed, "One of the two corpses is female," and "It was analyzed to contain eggs inside the body."
At the hearing, Jose de Jesus Salse Venites, director of the Mexican Navy's Health Science Research Institute, defended Maussan, stating, "Based on DNA tests comparing over one million species, the bodies are unrelated to anything known or described by science or human knowledge."

However, most media outlets and experts bluntly stated, "Such claims have already been proven false by many scientists and are a hoax." Most of the corpses presented in Latin America as aliens are actually children's mummies created before European conquerors landed.
In fact, Maussan had also revealed related photos in 2015, claiming them to be "aliens aboard a UFO that crashed in Roswell, USA," but this was proven false. The bodies he claimed were alien corpses were actually children's mummies exhibited at the Smithsonian Museum.
Elsa Tomasto-Cahiga, a prominent Peruvian biologist and anthropologist, responded to Maussan's claims by saying, "Is such nonsense still being openly circulated?" and added, "It's so absurd and straightforward that there's nothing more to say."
Mexican scientists who reviewed the DNA and radiocarbon dating tests presented by Maussan also estimated that the bodies belonged to ordinary earthly creatures.
As the controversy spread, the National Autonomous University of Mexico issued a statement saying, "Researchers have never examined the specimens themselves," and "Only skin samples provided by the client in 2017 were dated." Julieta Piero, a scientist at the university, also drew a line, stating, "There is nothing new showing compounds from life forms not found on Earth."
Even Ryan Graves, a former U.S. Navy pilot who caused a stir in 2017 by revealing he saw a UFO-like object during a training flight near San Diego in 2004, shook his head at Maussan's claims.
On the 15th, Graves criticized Maussan's actions on his social media, calling it a so-called 'stunt' and saying, "His unveiling of alien corpses has significantly set back the discussion on this matter."
Meanwhile, the Peruvian Ministry of Culture is investigating Maussan for allegedly illegally exporting fossils from the Nasca area, which is registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
Leslie Urteaga, the Minister of Culture, told reporters that day, "We understand these are some ancient bones," and added, "We are investigating what happened regarding the disappearance of the bones." Peruvian authorities are reportedly filing criminal charges against Maussan and his accomplices.
