LGU+ Installs 30 Electric Vehicle Chargers Nationwide at Red Cross Societies

LG Uplus announced on the 17th that it will conduct the electric vehicle charging service "Volt-up" sharing campaign in collaboration with the Korean Red Cross to build electric vehicle infrastructure.


The two organizations will install 30 Volt-up chargers at 12 locations including branches of the Red Cross nationwide, blood centers, and hospitals, and cooperate in installing electric vehicle chargers within institutions affiliated with the Red Cross. Anyone visiting the Red Cross branches and hospitals nationwide where chargers are installed can use the chargers.

In addition, the two parties will promote Volt-up chargers using the Red Cross network and cooperate in various ways, including participating in the Red Cross's climate change response projects.


LG Uplus has been conducting various social contribution activities with the Korean Red Cross since 2011. In 2021, it provided tablet PCs to special contributors from Afghanistan, and last year, it signed an ESG strategic partnership to cooperate in disaster response and social safety net building activities. Also, in April, LG Uplus donated 227 million KRW in funds and emergency relief supplies to the Korean Red Cross for victims of the T?rkiye-Syria earthquake.


The signing ceremony held at the Korean Red Cross located in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by Hwang Hyun-sik, CEO of LG Uplus; Park Hyung-il, Vice President and Head of Public Relations and External Cooperation Center; Hyun Jun-yong, Vice President and Head of EV Charging Business Division; as well as Kim Cheol-su, Chairman of the Korean Red Cross, and Lee Sang-cheon, Secretary General.


Volt-up is a service composed of ▲ high-quality electric vehicle chargers from proven manufacturers such as LG Electronics and LS Electric ▲ an app platform capable of charging reservations and sending full-charge notifications ▲ a control system and call center operating 24/7, 365 days a year.


Hwang Hyun-sik, CEO of LG Uplus, said, “The two organizations have made various attempts and achieved many results to fulfill social responsibility. Through this agreement, we will distribute LG Uplus’s Volt-up chargers to support smooth electric vehicle charging for the Korean Red Cross, which is promoting the transition of work vehicles to electric vehicles, and will continue to cooperate for the ‘climate crisis response’ promoted by the Red Cross.”


Kim Cheol-su, Chairman of the Korean Red Cross, said, “In a situation where responding to the climate crisis is urgent, we are pleased to promote a new business model combining eco-friendly activities and social contribution elements with LG Uplus. We will actively participate in building electric vehicle charging infrastructure going forward.”
