Winter Season Pass Sales Begin
Lift and Equipment Rentals with Additional Facilities and Food Benefits
Unlimited Integrated Passes Offered by Each Company
Major ski resorts in Korea have already begun preparations for the new season. They are actively introducing season passes that combine various facility usage benefits for ski and snowboard enthusiasts, often called the "flower of winter sports."
According to industry sources on the 15th, major ski resorts nationwide will sequentially start selling the 2023-2024 winter ski season passes from this month. Phoenix Pyeongchang will release its new season "Phoenix Snow Park" unlimited use ski season pass in two phases: first and second rounds. The first round of sales runs until October 16, offering three types of products: Prime Single, Prime Family, and Prime Plus. Each product includes differentiated benefits such as free season passes for children, access to the four-season water park Blue Canyon, meal vouchers for two people, and coffee and beverage coupons.
The highest-priced product is the 1.5 million KRW Prime Plus. Designed as a package for enthusiasts, it bundles the season pass, Blue Canyon access ticket, one child's season pass and equipment rental, along with a season locker room and exclusive parking close to the slopes. This product sold out its initial stock within about 10 minutes of going on sale on the first day, the 13th.
A representative from Phoenix Pyeongchang said, "Unlike other packages without quantity limits, the premium product was prepared in limited quantities of several hundred, but sales ended earlier than expected," adding, "We confirmed that there is strong demand for enjoying skiing and snowboarding conveniently and comfortably even at a higher price." The Phoenix Snow Park season pass will raise its base price and begin the second round of sales from the 17th of next month after completing the first round.
Alpensia Resort in Daegwallyeong, Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, will also launch its season pass online starting from the 18th. Purchasing the season pass allows unlimited use of lifts from the ski resort’s opening day to closing day, and provides additional benefits such as discount coupons for accommodations at the resort’s condos and hotels. The Ocean700 Water Park and lift tickets and equipment rental vouchers are also offered at up to 50% discount.
There is also a product offered jointly by major ski resorts. The "X5 Season Pass" is an integrated pass released by five ski resorts: four in Gangwon Province?High1 Resort, Yongpyong Resort, Welli Hilli Park, Elysian Gangchon?and one in Gyeongnam Province, Eden Valley Resort. This promotion started as a collaboration among several companies to revitalize ski resort usage after COVID-19, responding to requests from ski and board users. This year, five companies have joined forces.
Purchasers can use all the participating ski resorts with just one season pass. Additionally, one free season pass is provided for children under 19 years old, and a lucky box containing energy bars, mask packs, hot packs, and more is given. High1 Resort offers all season pass holders discount coupons for rooms, locker rooms, lifts, rentals, Water World, and food and beverage outlets. Welli Hilli Park also provides special benefits including 50% discount coupons for Water Planet, lifts, and equipment rentals (up to 4 people per coupon).
An industry official said, "With the start of season pass sales, we have begun full-scale planning for ski resort operations and services," adding, "We are considering opening after mid-November, taking weather conditions into account."
