Customized One-Stop Medical and Welfare Support for Residents in Vulnerable Areas
Jinwol-myeon in Gwangyang City announced that the ‘Visiting Jeonnam Happiness Bus’ visited Jungsan Village on the 12th and provided residents with various welfare services and customized programs.
The Visiting Jeonnam Happiness Bus is a project carried out in collaboration with the Jeollanam-do Social Service Center, Gwangyang City OK Life Mobile Unit, and volunteers. It supports customized one-stop medical and welfare services for residents who live far from urban areas and suffer from poor transportation and medical environments, preventing them from receiving basic services.
About 10 volunteers from the Social Service Center and Gwangyang City Volunteer Center provided medical and health services such as basic checkups, dementia tests, and InBody tests to about 30 residents of Jungsan Village. They also conducted various cultural and welfare programs including hairdressing, nail art, hand and foot massages, and frame making.
Additionally, the Gwangyang City OK Mobile Unit visited the homes of elderly people living alone who had difficulty moving, providing housing environment improvement services such as replacing faucets and lights, which received great positive feedback.
The village elders said, “We are truly grateful that they came all the way to this remote rural village to check our health, give massages, dye our hair, and even repair our homes.”
Meanwhile, the Visiting Jeonnam Happiness Bus started its service in Naemang Village, Jinwol-myeon, and has currently provided services to seven villages in Gwangyang City.
