An unusual Korean restaurant has opened in Bangchon-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu.
The Korean restaurant "Sodam Hansang," operated by seniors aged 60 and over, opened its doors on the 13th. This project was promoted as a market-type business under the senior job support project by the Dong-gu Senior Club, a senior job agency in Dong-gu, Daegu.
The opening ceremony of 'Sodam Hansang,' a restaurant operated by the Senior Club of Dong-gu, Daegu, is taking place.
This space was created by utilizing a kindergarten space that had been closed and abandoned for a long time. The employees working at the restaurant are seniors aged 60 and over from the Dong-gu area of Daegu, contributing not only to job creation but also to expanding social participation.
The menu is simple. It includes mackerel set, spicy pork set, and pork cutlet, which anyone from seniors to children can enjoy. The price is 8,000 won for single dishes and 20,000 won for 2-3 person set menus. Additionally, seniors aged 60 and over receive a 10% discount.
Before the restaurant opened, the Dong-gu Senior Club in Daegu conducted training on basic knowledge, job duties, and safety, and plans to focus on aftercare to provide high-quality food.
Yoon Seok-jun, head of Dong-gu Office in Daegu, said, “I hope the newly opened Sodam Hansang becomes a place where participating seniors can share the wisdom and experience they have accumulated over the years, and a space where they can feel the reward and joy of working. We will do our best to revitalize senior jobs so that seniors can lead healthy and vibrant lives by discovering and expanding various jobs that match their abilities and aptitudes.”
