Creating a Clean and Pleasant Environment for Chuseok at the Agricultural Wholesale Market
Jinju City in Gyeongnam conducted environmental maintenance to create a clean and pleasant environment at the agricultural wholesale market in celebration of Chuseok.
On the 12th, distribution workers who participated removed weeds from green areas and other parts of the wholesale market, organized auction items, maintained the passageways between intermediate wholesalers' stores, and cleaned around the agricultural waste disposal site.
One distribution worker who participated said, “I feel proud to have joined the big cleaning for welcoming customers to the wholesale market, and we will do our best to create a clean and warm wholesale market environment.” Customers visiting the wholesale market also responded that the agricultural products looked more hygienic and of better quality.
An intermediate wholesaler said, “Prices of fruits such as apples and pears are slightly higher than a year ago, but prices of vegetables like napa cabbage and radish remain relatively low. The price increase of apples and pears this year is due to reduced supply caused by poor harvests from abnormal weather.”
A city official said, “Ahead of Chuseok, we will smoothly supply fresh agricultural products to citizens visiting the agricultural wholesale market. Although rising prices make preparing the ancestral rites table burdensome, the agricultural wholesale market is more than 10% cheaper compared to retail prices, and it offers spacious parking facilities and convenient public transportation, so we hope many people will use it.”
