On the 11th, Pohang City held an opening ceremony for the Pohang City Carbon Neutral Support Center at Handong Global University, attended by over 100 people including private environmental organizations, citizens, and public officials.

On the 11th, Pohang City held an opening ceremony for the Carbon Neutral Support Center at Handong University.

The event was divided into two parts: the first part was the opening ceremony, and the second part was a symposium. Along with the opening of the Pohang City Carbon Neutral Support Center to promote the transition to a carbon-neutral society and green growth, presentations and discussions were held under the theme of ‘Strengthening Domestic Carbon Neutral Capabilities and Cases’ with experts from various fields to explore the direction and plans for the center.

The center will support Pohang City's carbon neutral policies and green growth initiatives in accordance with Article 68 of the Framework Act on Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth for responding to the climate crisis. Its duties include ▲establishing and supporting the basic carbon neutral plan and climate crisis adaptation measures ▲developing carbon neutral construction models by sector such as energy, industry, and transportation ▲conducting research, surveys, education, and publicity related to carbon neutrality ▲calculating and analyzing greenhouse gas statistics, and supporting Pohang City's carbon neutral policies.

Deputy Mayor Kim Nam-il stated, “We will work together with the Carbon Neutral Support Center for the future of Pohang as an environmental city that responds to the climate crisis and opens the era of carbon neutrality, including supporting corporate carbon neutral consulting.”
