Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who has been on a hunger strike for 12 days, received a phone call from Kwon Yang-sook, the wife of the late former President Roh Moo-hyun.

According to the Democratic Party on the 11th, Lee had a phone conversation with Mrs. Kwon around 6:15 PM that day. Mrs. Kwon expressed concern during the call, saying, "I am very worried about your health in such an extreme situation as a hunger strike." In response, Lee said, "I am sorry for causing you worry," and added, "I am still okay."

Mrs. Kwon also said, "I hesitated because I didn't know how I could help, but I decided to call," and urged, "Many people are worried, so please take good care of your health." Lee replied, "Compared to the suffering people in the world endure, (the hunger strike) is nothing," and added, "I am also worried about your health, Madam."

Lee continued, "I have not forgotten your kindness in allowing me to offer the last drink at the memorial service for former President Roh long ago," and expressed gratitude, saying, "Your call and concern give me great strength."

In response, Mrs. Kwon said, "My heart aches deeply," and repeatedly urged, "Please think of your health above all." Lee replied, "I will do my best as it is my given responsibility," and added, "Thank you once again."
