Issuance of a Total of 14.5 Billion Won in Dongdaemun-gu Love Gift Certificates for Chuseok

Issued in two rounds... 1st round on September 13 at 1 PM, 2nd round on September 20 at 1 PM

Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) will issue Dongdaemun-gu Love Gift Certificates worth a total of 14.5 billion KRW to celebrate the Chuseok holiday.

The Chuseok edition of the Dongdaemun-gu Love Gift Certificates will be issued in two phases: 8 billion KRW from 1 PM on September 13 for the first phase, and 6.5 billion KRW from 1 PM on September 20 for the second phase.

Consumers can purchase the gift certificates at a 7% discount, and to allow more people to benefit, the purchase limit per person is capped at 500,000 KRW per month (actual purchase amount 465,000 KRW), combining purchases from both phases.

Gift certificates can be purchased and used through the SeoulPay+ (Seoul Pay Plus), T-money Pay, Shinhan SOL, Moneytree, and Shinhan Play apps. After downloading the application on a smartphone, users can register, verify their identity, and link a payment account to purchase the gift certificates.

The validity period for using the gift certificates is five years from the date of purchase. Unused certificates can be canceled regardless of the period. If more than 60% of the purchase amount per transaction is used, the remaining balance can be refunded after deducting the discount support amount.

The gift certificates can be used at approximately 10,000 SeoulPay affiliated stores, including supermarkets, small and medium-sized marts, beauty salons, kindergartens, and academies. However, large discount stores, department stores, general academic/foreign language/arts entrance exam academies with annual sales exceeding 1 billion KRW, movie theaters affiliated with large corporations, and direct franchise stores of large and medium-sized enterprises are excluded.

To revitalize the local economy through price stabilization, Dongdaemun-gu issued gift certificates worth 10 billion KRW before the last Lunar New Year holiday.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “With the local economy facing difficulties due to rising prices ahead of Chuseok, we hope that the issuance of the Dongdaemun-gu Love Gift Certificates will increase sales for small business owners and reduce household expenditure burdens for local residents, allowing everyone to enjoy a prosperous Chuseok holiday.”
