Sales Start on Our Online Mall
i-SENS announced on the 11th that it will launch the continuous glucose monitor (CGM) 'CareSens Air,' developed with proprietary technology, in the domestic market.
i-SENS explained that the launch of CareSens Air is significant as it is the first domestically produced continuous glucose monitoring device. Currently, the CGM products sold in Korea are all foreign-made, including those from Dexcom, Abbott, and Medtronic.
CareSens Air is the smallest and lightest among the CGMs currently available in Korea, with an integrated sensor and transmitter, i-SENS emphasized. This design makes it easy to attach and provides excellent wearing comfort, according to the company. Notably, it can be used continuously for 15 days, representing the longest sensor usage period among CGMs.
After receiving approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on June 19, CareSens Air completed health insurance registration in July and prepared for its full-scale launch. Production began in August with the operation of the Songdo factory facilities, and sales started on the company's online mall from this day, accompanied by a launch event.
i-SENS plans to leverage the network and service experience accumulated through its self-monitoring blood glucose (BGM) devices to market and distribute the continuous glucose monitor. The company's BGM product, 'CareSens,' has won the Korea First Brand Award in the blood glucose meter category for 12 consecutive years.
An i-SENS representative stated, "We expect the CareSens Air product to provide higher satisfaction to domestic diabetes patients in various aspects such as accuracy, convenience, customer service, and purchase cost."
Meanwhile, i-SENS aims to launch the product in the European market in the first half of next year and submitted the European CE certification application at the end of March.
