LG U+, Strategic Investment in Webtoon Producer 'Jaedam Media' of 'Weak Hero'

LG Uplus announced on the 7th that it has made a strategic investment in the IP (intellectual property) of the webtoon production company ‘Jaedam Media’ to strengthen its content competitiveness. This is the first content-related investment since launching the content-specialized studio ‘STUDIO X+U’ last year.

Jaedam Media is a webtoon production company that supplies over 500 popular webtoons such as ‘Weak Hero’, ‘Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho’, and ‘Youth Blossom’ to various platforms and develops diverse content IP businesses based on them. ‘Weak Hero’ has driven a twofold growth in Jaedam Media’s sales, and ‘Neighborhood Lawyer Jo Deul-ho’ was also adapted into a terrestrial TV drama.

Through this investment, LG Uplus will selectively secure the original IP of Jaedam Media’s new webtoon platform ‘Hi Webtoon Service Shorts’, scheduled to open in October. Based on this, it plans to produce video content and supply it to its own platform as well as domestic and international media companies.
