Improvement in Product Recycling Grades and Reduction of Carbon Dioxide Emissions
Recognized for Practicing Various Eco-Friendly Campaigns
Binggrae announced on the 6th that it received the Minister of Environment Commendation at the '2023 Single-use Products and Packaging Reduction and Recycling Promotion Excellent Business Operator Contest.'
This contest, hosted by the Ministry of Environment in celebration of Resource Circulation Day, rewards outstanding businesses that have contributed to environmental conservation through reducing single-use product consumption, suppressing packaging waste generation, and promoting recycling. Binggrae was recognized for its achievements in improving product recycling grades, reducing carbon dioxide emissions, and implementing various eco-friendly campaigns and eco-friendly packaging awards.
Binggrae has been striving to reduce plastic use and carbon emissions based on the '3R (Recycle, Reduce, Redesign)' strategy. The packaging of the ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee brand Acapella was changed to a shrink label that can be easily separated and disposed of during the water separation process with a specific gravity of less than 1. The packaging film of ice cream products was lightened, and the PET bottles of the premium refrigerated juice brand Ttaom were also lightened. Additionally, no-label packaging was applied to Acapella Simply and the Malgeuncha series. Acapella and Acapella Simply received the highest recycling grade, while Ttaom received an excellent recycling grade.
Binggrae also launched the 'Ilsang Danbansa (Everyday Banana Milk Container Reflector)' campaign, which collects banana milk containers and recycles them into reflector mirrors shaped like containers that protect dark roads at night, and the campaign to upcycle Yoplait containers into eco-friendly recycled goods called the 'Yoplait Gardening Kit,' which is used as flowerpots.
A Binggrae representative stated, "We will establish ourselves as an eco-friendly company through not only reducing carbon dioxide emissions and campaigns but also various environmental protection activities."
