New 'Semiconductor Attraction Team' Established in Urban Development Department
Targeting Organizational Restructuring Implementation in January Next Year
Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province is undertaking a major organizational restructuring. The reorganization focuses on fostering future industries and enhancing citizen welfare.
Anseong City stated on the 6th, "We plan to reorganize the organization mainly in the welfare and economic sectors to reflect regional characteristics in administration and to eliminate blind spots in various administrative services," adding, "The goal is to implement the organizational restructuring in January next year."
To this end, the city explained that similar and overlapping projects will be integrated or readjusted according to their functions and roles, designing an efficient organization within limited personnel expenses and staffing without creating new departments.
In particular, to foster the semiconductor materials, parts, and equipment (SoBuJang) specialized complex and semiconductor industry, the city plans to establish a "Semiconductor Attraction Team" within the Urban Development Division. This is a follow-up measure after the Dongshin General Industrial Complex in Dongshin-ri, Bogae-myeon, Anseong City, covering 1.57 million square meters, was designated as a semiconductor SoBuJang specialized complex in July. It reflects the city’s intention to actively attract related companies to Dongshin Industrial Complex and develop it as a core industry of Anseong.
Additionally, to provide integrated medical and care support services for the elderly, who account for about 19% of Anseong’s population, the city will unify related tasks from the main office and health center into the Health Center’s Elderly Care Division. The Social Welfare Division, Family and Women’s Division, and Education and Youth Division will be reorganized into the Social Welfare Division, Future Education Division, and Lifelong Learning and Sports Division by adjusting their duties. Through this adjustment, the Social Welfare Division will handle women, childcare, youth, disabled persons, single-person households, and funeral affairs; the Future Education Division will be responsible for children, youth, and school education; and the Lifelong Learning and Sports Division will manage lifelong learning and sports.
The Culture, Sports, and Tourism Division will separate sports duties and be reorganized into the Culture and Tourism Division to further activate culture and tourism from an industrial perspective.
Furthermore, to revitalize the distribution of local agricultural and livestock products, the city plans to establish the Agricultural and Livestock Distribution Division and Local Food Team within the Agricultural Technology Center. The Rural Society Division, Technology Promotion Division, and Eco-friendly Technology Division will be renamed as the Agricultural Guidance Division and Technology Promotion Division, with personnel reallocated accordingly. The Agricultural Counseling Office will be expanded and reorganized into four regional Agricultural Technology Counseling Teams.
The city will announce the draft amendment to the related ordinance for public comment by the 26th of this month, collect opinions, and then submit the ordinance to the city council next month. If the ordinance passes, the city plans to implement the organizational restructuring starting January 1 next year through follow-up measures such as revising enforcement rules and regular personnel appointments.
Mayor Kim Bora said, “Rather than fearing the many anticipated changes, I hope everyone will share and join in the meaning and purpose of the changes we are pursuing with a spirit of new challenge.”
