Gwangju Buk-gu to Operate Mudeungsan Pyeongchon Bandi Village Ecological Experience from the 9th

Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 6th that it will operate the 'Mudeungsan Pyeongchon Bandi Village Ecological Experience' in cooperation with the Mudeungsan National Park Office and Pyeongchon Premium Village from the 9th to the 26th.

The Mudeungsan Pyeongchon Bandi Village Ecological Experience was prepared to form a consensus on ecosystem restoration and environmental conservation through natural experiences and education using fireflies that inhabit a clean and pristine environment.

This ecological experience, held in the Pyeongchon Village area of Mudeungsan, includes the 'Meeting Fireflies on an Autumn Night' event for the whole family and the 'Ecological Experience School in Pyeongchon' for elementary school students.

Buk-gu plans to first operate the 'Meeting Fireflies on an Autumn Night' event four times from the 9th to the 17th for family units of about 50 residents per session, offering various programs such as acoustic guitar performances, environmental quizzes, and firefly exploration for residents to enjoy.

In particular, on the first day of the event, the 9th, the atmosphere will be heightened with an opening ceremony, fusion gugak (traditional Korean music) performance, escape bus, and a firefly glow keyring making experience program.

Then, from the 19th to the 26th, the 'Ecological Experience School in Pyeongchon' will be held six times for about 300 elementary school students, providing opportunities for climate and environmental education, Pyeongchon pottery workshop experiences, and activities in the Pyeongchon Bandi Forest Playground.

A Buk-gu official said, "We thank the residents of Pyeongchon Village who are making efforts to preserve nature to protect fireflies, a representative indicator species of a clean environment," adding, "We hope that through this event, residents can see the mysterious and beautiful light of the fireflies and reflect on emotional stability and the importance of environmental protection."
