Focused Investment in 15 Projects Across 6 Sectors
Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 5th that County Governor Lee Sang-ik, together with Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, unveiled the ‘Hampyeong Future Regional Development Vision’ at the Jeollanam-do Provincial Office to overcome the local reality facing a crisis due to continuous population decline and to bring about new changes and leaps forward.
This announcement is the result of Hampyeong-gun, which is experiencing a crisis of its population falling below 30,000 due to rapid population decline, consistently proposing regional development projects to Jeollanam-do and closely cooperating to achieve this outcome.
The six vision areas announced that day are ▲ AI advanced livestock industry convergence valley, ▲ Hampyeong Bay marine tourism hub development, ▲ global data center cluster, ▲ future convergence advanced new town, and ▲ SOC expansion and accessibility improvement.
The 15 detailed projects include ▲ establishment of an AI advanced livestock industry full-cycle industrialization base complex, ▲ development of a marine leisure complex, ▲ attraction of AI-linked data centers, ▲ expansion of metropolitan roads, National Road No. 23, and Local Road No. 838, ▲ establishment of rental smart farms, and ▲ creation of a comprehensive leisure and sports town, totaling approximately 1.71 trillion KRW.
Hampyeong-gun plans to realize this vision by fostering future industries such as AI advanced livestock industry, marine tourism, and data centers, constructing an advanced new town with self-sufficient functions, and expanding SOC and improving accessibility to lay the foundation for regional development.
Governor Lee Sang-ik stated, “The announcement of the Hampyeong future development vision marks a meaningful starting point for new changes and leaps forward in Hampyeong,” and added, “We will strive to ensure that the projects announced today do not remain mere declarations but are implemented one by one, ultimately leading to tangible regional development achievements.”
