Sunchang-gun Receives Positive Response for Rehabilitation Assistive Device Rental Program... Easing Economic Burden

Sunchang-gun, Jeonbuk Province, is receiving great response for implementing an assistive device rental project targeting local residents with disabilities and those with temporary disabilities due to illness or accidents.

According to the county on the 5th, the "Rehabilitation Assistive Device Support Project," part of the community-based rehabilitation program, is a project that reduces the economic burden on residents with mobility difficulties and lends necessary rehabilitation medical equipment free of charge for a certain period to enhance their rehabilitation motivation.

The rental items include wheelchairs, U-shaped walkers, and alternating pressure mattresses. The rental period is basically 3 months, but if there are few waiting users, it can be extended once, allowing use for up to 6 months.

Residents wishing to rent must visit the Health and Medical Center with their ID, receive education on usage methods and accident prevention, and then fill out the rental management ledger.

A county official said, "We hope that the free rental project for rehabilitation assistive devices will help remove life barriers caused by temporary accidents, surgeries, or disabilities and promote social participation."
