Kim Young-seop, the new CEO of KT, paid a courtesy visit to Lee Jong-ho, Minister of Science and ICT.
A KT official said on the 5th, "Minister Lee and CEO Kim met privately at an undisclosed location in Seoul this morning. There was no special significance; it was a meeting for introductions."
The Ministry of Science and ICT is the main government agency responsible for domestic information and communication technology policies. It is known that issues related to government projects involving KT were also discussed during the meeting.
CEO Kim will make his official public appearance at the "Mobile 360 Asia Pacific" conference, held jointly by the Global System for Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) at the Westin Chosun Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 7th and 8th.
KT is the host sponsor of this conference, which is being held for the first time in Korea. CEO Kim will deliver a speech on the theme of "Leading an Open Digital Nation" at the event.
Next week, CEO Kim is also scheduled to have introductory meetings with the CEOs of SK Telecom, LG Uplus, and Lee Dong-kwan, Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission. This will be the first meeting since Chairman Lee took office.
At this meeting, the three CEOs and Chairman Lee are expected to discuss major issues in the telecommunications industry, such as reducing household communication costs and revising the "Act on the Improvement of Distribution Structure of Mobile Communication Terminals (the Device Distribution Act)."
