Chungnam Province, Complete Replacement of 'Poor Growth Trees' in Naepo New Town

Chungnam Province announced on the 5th that it will replace all poorly growing trees planted in parks and green spaces in Naepo New City.

The replacement of poor-quality trees is being carried out in response to criticisms that many of the trees planted along some streets and in green spaces such as parks within Naepo New City are not only unsightly due to poor growth but also fail to provide shade for residents.

Before starting the replacement work, Chungnam Province held a working-level meeting last month with the local government association of Hongseong County, Yesan County, and Chungnam Innovation City to conduct a full survey of the trees in Naepo New City, analyze the causes of poor growth, and decide to proceed with the final replacement work.

Based on this, Chungnam Province plans to complete the current status survey this year and fully replace poorly growing and dead trees starting next year.

Meanwhile, Naepo New City’s development plan advocates a "green city where the city becomes a forest," aiming to secure a green space ratio of over 50%.

This is part of the detailed implementation projects of the Carbon Neutral Economy Special Promotion Strategy, and Chungnam Province is currently also promoting the "Naepo New City World Carbon Neutral Capital" initiative.
