French Daily Le Parisien's Own Ranking
"Textbook Choreography and Frequent Intermissions Disrupt Rhythm"
The French daily newspaper Le Parisien gave a harsh review of BLACKPINK's July encore performance.
Le Parisien reported on the 2nd (local time) that after independently evaluating performances by famous singers held from May this year until the end of last month at Stade De France and Paris La D?fense Arena, BLACKPINK's performance was selected as the worst.
BLACKPINK held their world tour concert encore, "BORN PINK," on July 15 at Stade De France, a stadium in France. The venue was filled with 55,000 spectators. Le Parisien commented on the performance, saying, "Just because the Stade De France was packed with an audience does not mean the performance matched that scale," and added, "This is the conclusion drawn after leaving the BLACKPINK concert that sparked the Korean K-POP craze."
They continued, "The choreography was too textbook-like, and due to a lack of communication among the members, they often passed in front of each other."
They also pointed out that the video footage capturing the members was messy, and the excessive number of intermissions disrupted the rhythm, which were also considered drawbacks.
In particular, towards the end of the performance, an absurd situation unfolded where Jennie left the stage without reason, and the remaining three members called out to an audience member holding a specific placard. They described it as "a show that failed to live up to the popularity of these young Koreans."
Jennie had left the stage after saying, "I'll be back," and reappeared three minutes later wearing white pants instead of black.
Le Parisien named the best stage as the concert by Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd, held in the same venue as BLACKPINK in July, describing it as "the most perfect and bold performance of this summer" in all aspects including stage setup and vocals.
Before releasing the results, they stated, "Since this ranking is highly subjective, some will be happy, some will be envious, and some will be unhappy."
