"From WWW to Spatial Web... Real-World Data Computed in Virtual Space"

"From WWW to Spatial Web... Real-World Data Computed in Virtual Space"

There is a claim that the Spatial Web will gain attention in the future online space.

On the 1st, at the 'NFT 2023 Seoul Conference' held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Choo Sun-woo, CEO of iStaging Asia, described the Spatial Web as "a living network composed of interconnected pages, text, media networks like the World Wide Web (WWW), as well as people, objects, spaces, virtual counterparts, transactions, and transportation," adding, "All data from reality is computed virtually, and the computed virtual data can greatly help solve real-world problems."

He further stated, "The convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computers will not only analyze and understand real scenes but also create and allow experiences of all imaginable scenes virtually," and "Data exchange between online and offline will enable the connection between digital and physical spaces."

Choo defined the Spatial Web as an integrated reality generated by next-generation computing technology that combines all digital and physical content. He presented the components of the Spatial Web as ▲spatiality ▲ownership ▲security ▲privacy ▲trust ▲interoperability. Through these elements, he anticipated that smart payments, asset management, and contracts would become possible.

Regarding the World Wide Web, Choo said, "It was designed as a space with universality of information, where all accessible information through bookmarks or hyperlinks should be connected via the network," adding, "Universality is an essential element of the web, and when there are specific areas that cannot be linked, the web loses its power."

The event also discussed the future of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Shin Young-sun, CEO of Hello Web3, said, "The name itself could practically change," and "While it is uncertain whether the form of NFT technology will change to something else soon, the underlying technology will be maintained." She added, "The current technological form called NFT will be upgraded, but the name used as packaging is expected to change."

However, Kim Min-seok, CEO of Tmax Metaverse, emphasized, "The realistic problem is that there is no representative product for NFTs," and "NFT products can take the form of art content or change into other forms as much as desired." He also said, "When a specific technology’s name becomes a generic term, it does not change easily," and "It seems unlikely that the technical name will change easily."

The NFT 2023 Seoul Conference was hosted by Art Token, Soongsil University, and others. It expanded into a more global event following last year’s 'NFT ART 101 Conference.' Keynote speeches covered ▲the direction and new possibilities of NFTs in the Web3 era ▲the use and role of NFT art in future art ▲the current status of domestic token securities issuance (STO) market and industry-specific STO utilization strategies. Subsequently, 14 sessions deeply discussed global trends and current status.
