Gumi City Visits Central Government Departments to Propose Infrastructure for Asian Athletics Championships and More

Promoting Key Current Projects ... Full Effort to Secure Special Grants

On the 30th, Gumi City in Gyeongbuk visited the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at the Government Sejong Complex and the Local Era Committee to explain major projects and request full support for the smooth promotion of local pending projects.


Mayor Kim Jang-ho and related department officials visited the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to meet with Vice Minister Ko Gi-dong, Director Han Soon-gi of the Local Finance Policy Bureau, and Director Jin Seon-ju of the Grant Tax Division. They actively proposed special grant tax support for the smooth promotion of major infrastructure projects related to the hosting of the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships. They also visited the Disaster Management Office of the Ministry to actively explain the necessity of new projects for disaster prevention and requested site selection and national funding support.

In addition, to designate the Opportunity Development Special Zone, a strategic project for local autonomy decentralization and regional balanced development under the Local Era, they met with Woo Dong-gi, Chairman of the Local Era Committee, explained Gumi’s specialized strategies and strengths, and asked for special interest and support.


Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, “Due to the recent slowdown in the asset market, decrease in national tax revenue, and the government’s sound fiscal policy, it is expected to be more difficult than ever to secure national funding.” He added, “To ensure the smooth progress of the city’s core projects, we will continuously visit central government departments and do our best to secure national funding and resolve local issues.” He also stated, “We have a sense of crisis regarding the decrease in transfer income due to low national tax revenue, and we will make every effort to secure national funding until the government budget for next year is finalized.”
