[Rebuttal Report] 'Controversy Over Condolence Visits for Yoon's Father's Funeral Spreading to 노사연 and 노사봉's Fathers' Related to the Article'

On August 20, 2023, this publication reported the claims of former editor-in-chief Kim Joo-wan of Gyeongnam Domin Ilbo regarding the late No Yang-hwan, father of No Sa-yeon and No Sa-bong, in the article titled "Controversy over Condolences for President Yoon's Father's Funeral Spreading to No Sa-yeon and No Sa-bong's Father." We hereby publish the following rebuttal.

The law firm Lawfirm Jinhwa, representing the heirs No Sa-yeol, No Sa-bong, and No Sa-yeon of the deceased, informed us that "the late No Yang-hwan, father of No Sa-yeon and No Sa-bong, served as an investigator in the counterintelligence unit during the National Guidance Alliance Incident and therefore was not involved in any way, including on-site command, in the Masan Massacre Incident."

Lawfirm Jinhwa stated, "The claim that the late No Yang-hwan was the actual commander of the Masan Massacre Incident is a reader's theory based on the book by former Gyeongnam Domin Ilbo editor-in-chief Kim Joo-wan. There is no other academic theory supporting this claim, and it is not a historical fact verified by evidence."

As the first media outlet to report on this controversy, we feel a heavy sense of responsibility and sincerely apologize to the heirs of the deceased.
