Neck Leash Pulled and Broken While Hanging in Midair
"Despair and Panic... Just Acted on Instinct"

A video of an 11-year-old boy in Brazil rescuing his dog whose leash got caught in an elevator door is gaining attention.

According to the Daily Mail on the 28th (local time), the incident occurred on the 23rd in an elevator of a building in the city of Goiania, Brazil.

11-year-old Tiago Magellan took the elevator to go for a walk with his dog, Milu. The boy had released the dog's leash, but the leash got caught in the elevator door.

Realizing this, the boy quickly turned around and grabbed the leash, but as the elevator moved, the dog was lifted toward the ceiling by the leash. If left as it was, the dog could have suffocated, but the boy, also suspended in the air, pulled on the leash. Eventually, the leash broke, and both the boy and the dog fell to the floor.

When the elevator stopped, Magellan used the emergency button to call for help, and the boy and his dog safely got out of the elevator.

In an interview with a local broadcaster, Magellan said, "When my best friend was hanging from the elevator ceiling, I felt despair and panic," adding, "I don't know where that courage came from. It was just instinct."

The boy's father, Rodrigo Magellan, said, "I am very scared thinking about what could have happened," and added, "The situation was quite serious, and I later realized it could have been a fatal accident for my son and the dog."
