The comprehensive lighting company Woori Enterprise announced on the 29th that it has supplied the high-power LED floodlight 'Philips LED Sportstar System' to Pohang CC in Gyeongbuk.
Woori Enterprise replaced 113 lighting towers of the 18-hole Pohang CC, located near the seaside, with 900W products designed with wind resistance, corrosion prevention against seawater salinity, and optical lenses to prevent light pollution from interfering with the game.
The newly installed high-power LED floodlights support high energy efficiency and narrow beam distribution, and are products that secure safety against external impacts with IK08 impact resistance and IP66 dustproof and waterproof ratings.
This product, supplied by Philips and sold domestically by Woori Enterprise, makes it easy to confirm and track golf ball trajectories during night games and creates a daylight-like atmosphere with uniform illuminance distribution throughout the course.
The existing metal halide system had an average illuminance of 50 lux on the fairway, making it difficult to see the ball during night rounds, but the high-power LED floodlights have improved the average illuminance to over 150 lux, resulting in high satisfaction among golfers, the company explained.
Woori Enterprise stated that in recent years, due to the impact of COVID-19, the number of young golf players has increased, leading to more people enjoying golf regardless of weekdays, weekends, or nighttime, thus increasing the demand for golf course lighting replacement. This year, contracts and supplies are underway with several golf courses including Haesolia CC.
Additionally, this product was supplied worldwide for events such as the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and the Qatar World Cup, and has been installed at over 50 domestic golf courses and sports facilities including Rianri CC, Lunaex CC, Taekwang CC, and Ulsan Science University soccer field. It is also supplied and used in various industrial facilities such as Hyundai Heavy Industries Ulsan Port, Hyundai Samho Yeongam Port, and Korea Special Steel.
Um Tae-wook, CEO of Woori Enterprise, said, "Based on the excellent technology of the global lighting company Philips, we provide stable maintenance and the best rounding environment, and through a 10-year product warranty, we will be a partner that helps golf course owners maintain the same environment as when first installed."
