Korea Tourism Organization Announces Scenario Contest for 'Palace Travel with Stories'

Discovery of History, Legends, and Folktales Related to the Four Great Palaces of Seoul

The Korea Tourism Organization announced on the 28th that it will hold a storytelling scenario contest titled "Palace Travel with Stories," featuring Seoul's Four Grand Palaces, until the 22nd of next month.

This contest was planned to discover historical facts, legends, and folktales related to Seoul's Four Grand Palaces?Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, and Deoksugung?and to enhance the tourism added value of these popular historic sites among foreign visitors to Korea.


Participants are required to submit narratives in the form of stories introducing historical facts, legends, or folktales related to Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, and Deoksugung, aimed at actual foreign audiences.


Applications are divided into two categories: the general public category, open to all Korean citizens aged 14 and above, and the local government cultural tourism guide category.


Ten winners will be selected from each category and awarded the Korea Tourism Organization President’s Commendation and prize money. Outstanding works will be provided as storytelling commentary versions in 'Odi,' the Korea Tourism Organization’s domestic travel audio guide, and will also be included as an appendix in the standard script guide for cultural tourism guides.


Park Daeyoung, head of the Regional Tourism Content Team at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "If the history and old stories related to the palaces are conveyed entertainingly to foreign tourists, the satisfaction of inbound tourism will increase. We plan to prepare various events using the winning works to raise the revisit rate of foreign tourists to the palaces."
