Kim Yoon-ah, the vocalist of the band Jaurim, expressed anger over Japan's start of releasing contaminated water from the Fukushima nuclear power plant into the ocean.

On the 24th, Kim Yoon-ah posted a photo on her Instagram with the caption "RIP (Rest in peace) Earth (地球)" and wrote, "I have been engulfed in anger for the past few days." She continued, "The dystopian movie setting of Blade Runner + 4 years is beginning to become reality," adding, "The scene of LA in the movie where radioactive rain never stops and no light comes through, on days like today, I think about hell."

Kim Yoon-ah also shared an image depicting the water cycle on X (formerly Twitter), stating, "Middle school science, the water cycle. The problem of ocean pollution is not limited to whether we can eat fish and seaweed or not." She added, "By focusing on fish, the worst marine pollution disaster is minimized infinitely to the issue of side dish choices."

Along with this, Kim Yoon-ah encouraged participation in the signature campaign opposing the release of radioactive contaminated water from Fukushima, Japan.

Prior to Kim Yoon-ah, in July, singer Ria (real name Kim Jae-won) headed toward the sea in front of Fukushima, turning on a radiation detector to check radiation levels, and said, "I will be exposed to a certain amount of radiation today," while personally collecting seawater from the Fukushima sea.

At that time, Ria said, "This water is not holy water but wastewater, so I will first send one sample to the Prime Minister's residence, and the rest will be divided into 200mL portions taken from there (Fukushima). Since I cannot analyze it myself, if any analysis institution wants it, I will share it," strongly opposing the decision to release contaminated water.

At around 1:03 PM on the same day, Tokyo Electric Power Company began releasing contaminated water stored at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant.

Tokyo Electric Power plans to dilute about 460 tons of contaminated water daily with seawater and release it over 17 days, initially discharging 7,800 tons of contaminated water into the sea. The amount of contaminated water expected to be released by March next year is 31,200 tons, which is about 2.3% of the currently stored contaminated water.
