Yongin City Distributes 'Light Evacuation Guidance Devices' to Fire-Vulnerable Households

Helping Evacuation with Light and Voice During Fire

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it will distribute 'Light Evacuation Guidance Devices' to fire-vulnerable households within the jurisdiction.

This device consists of a set of three units: a wireless fire detector, an evacuation guidance light, and a safety siren. When smoke is detected during a fire, it emits light to indicate the escape route and guides evacuation with voice instructions to help people evacuate safely.

This distribution project is being carried out with national funding after being selected in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Local Government Innovation Performance Expansion Support Project' competition.

The city plans to prioritize areas with a high population of fire-vulnerable groups such as seniors aged 65 and older, as well as regions far from fire stations, and provide support to approximately 300 households. In the selected villages, the Light Evacuation Guidance Devices will be installed in each household, and safety education including fire prevention will be conducted.

A city official stated, “We will strive to raise safety awareness in daily life through continuous follow-up management such as safety education.”
