A Glimpse of Hwasun Dolmen, a World Cultural Heritage Site Spanning Thousands of Years
Hwasun-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 21st that the Hwasun Dolmen Auto Camping Site near the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Hwasun Dolmen Site is gaining attention as a camping destination filled with reasonable fees, clean and safe facilities, and the scent of pristine nature.
Opened in 2022, the Hwasun Dolmen Auto Camping Site features 41 strong gravel sites, a jokgu (Korean foot volleyball) court, shower rooms, cooking areas, restrooms, and other convenience facilities.
Additionally, the nearby Dogok Nonghyup Local Food Market allows campers to enjoy camping using fresh local agricultural products.
The usage fee is 20,000 KRW on weekdays (Sunday to Thursday) and public holidays during the off-season, and 25,000 KRW on weekends (Friday to Saturday and the day before public holidays) and peak season (July to August).
There is a prehistoric experience center offering various free and paid prehistoric experiences, and a World Megalith Theme Park exhibiting world megaliths such as Moai statues nearby, allowing tourists camping here to tour and view the dolmen site area.
A county official said, “The Dolmen Auto Camping Site will do its best to operate the campground so that modern people tired of the stifling city life can enjoy nature, comfortably rest, and visit the precious cultural heritage of the dolmen site.”
Meanwhile, Hwasun-gun plans to hold the 2023 Hwasun Dolmen Autumn Flower Festival for 10 days from October 20 to October 29 at the World Cultural Heritage Hwasun Dolmen Site.
